While sitting at a red light this morning in my 09 A6, it felt like someone had bumped me from the rear, well I looked in the rear view and no one had. The rpm's fluctuated a little and then I noticed the check engine light was on. I started to leave the red light and the it seemed like it had no power or was in 3rd or 4th gear, the rpm's were about 1700 at 40 mph. It would not shift gears at all, so I dropped it to shift mode and tried to use the paddle shifters and still nothing. I made it to my clients office and turned off the vette and restarted it, test drove it and all was fine except that the check engine light was still on. After the meeting I drove it to the dealer with no issues other than it seemed to shift a little quicker than before. Has anyone had this happen to them?
I had something similar happen years ago after trying the paddles at the track and hitting the rev limiter a couple times, immediately after that it seemed stuck in 3rd gear, no use of the paddles etc. By the time I had gotten home the paddle feature had returned on it's own and after a day or two of letting it sit with the battery disconnected it was completely fine, never to return again.
The battery disconnection might be a total coincidence as this minor trans/computer glitch might've fixed itself anyway but maybe give it a shot.

I just had the same thing happen to me out of the blue on the highway. read a few of the posts here, unhooked the battery, restarted the car and the problem is gone. I was ready to take it to the dealer too.
