We have built a couple to go in f-bodies, GTOs, vettes, and a older cruiser car. They are good motors. You have to be careful w/ pin heights in pistons to keep from hurting pistons w/ power adders but it definitely can be done. How much power are you looking at making? Let me know if we can help!

How much horse power do you get on a 454 with a mild build. My definition of mild build is one that has similar maners to stock and runs on 91 octane gas. No power adders.

We don't recommend using the regular deck for a boosted 454.
We use a 4.185 bore x 4.125 stroke. As such the piston is compromised to get things to be where they should be.. rings and pin
This leaves the piston compromised and although it can be done we don't recommend a power adder with it. You do see them all the time smoking their way down the track, eating oil and popping dipsticks out and wondering why...
The tall deck would be a better choice but it adds its own nuances.
We offer an LSX 434 4.155 bore x 4" stroke for people looking for good boosted power from the regular deck and the tall deck for a 454 for boost ( a real beast as well).
This is also an iron block, which a lot of guys don't like the added weight on the front end. How much is that s/c unit going to add as well?
SO there are quite a few things to look at really if you want to make big power reliably.
We only offer HKE Precision Racing engines, one of the very best in the business. Give us a call and we'll discuss your specific needs and create a combination that makes sense for both financial and reliability.
Dads toy.. the power is made in the heads ( and of course how many rpms you want to run) We've seen 454's not our own make 535 at the wheels or 600+. It all comes down to the combination .. heads, cam, valve-train.. etc.
