this has happened twice,,i will get in my 05 cvt and go to walmart or somewhere and come back out and start the car but the shift ,,automatic,,wont move to drive ,it wont come out of park, and after a few minutes it will shift???? whats up with that"?
I think it might be the shift lock selinoid, and unfortunately I think that piece cannot be purchased separately. I think you might have to replace the entire shifter assembly.
you've got ross downing chev, a forum dealer, down in your state. might be good to ask their service dept., even if they're not close to you. also you can ask gene culley if that part is sold separately.
Isnt there a switch at the top of the arm attached to the brake pedal that tells the car that you have the brake depressed? I was told that if this switch sticks or goes bad, you cant shift out of park...just a thought

I think your car is telling you it doesn't like to go to walmart.
I experimented with our 2009 A6, electronics would not turn off until I shifted to Park.
Then I tried shutting down in Park, turning on Accessory, moving selector to Neutral (yes, you can do that!), then turn off Accessory. Accesory would not turn off.
Maybe if I tried a few pushes on the switch?
