Default timing chain cover problem

I am having a cam installed in my 08 LS3 Vette and am having a clearance issue with the double timing chain/cover. The chain is contacting the cover. I have been told that the cover from an 06 LS7 will solve this problem. Does anybody know the part number and if this will work?
Thanks, Jerry

Not sure if the LS7 cover works but I believe most shops machine the stock cover to allow a double chain to fit.

No way! I just exp. the same problem and you can't grind enough to make cover fit. the oil pump hits the cover because of the spacers required for the double roller clearance and I ground through on mine and still hit.. Livernois had me go back to perf. single roller for the Ls3...

We are in the same boat. Supposedly a 2 piece cover will work. I will make some calls Tuesday.

We ended up modifying the existing cover and it seems to be fine. The cam and rockers are in and we should start her Wed. I went ahead and installed a new water pump and pinned the crank pulley for the future.
It will be interesting to see what she gains. Here are the cam specs:
220 238 on a 114 with .571 lift. We also installed CRANE 1.8 rockers.
Before this she was at 418RWHP and 415 RWTQ. I also have Halltech, Bassani headers and Xpipe, and a Z06 catback with M2W.
Thanks for the advice.
By the way we ordered the Edlebrock 2 piece and it had the same clearance issues. A LS7 timing chain cover from 05/06 is larger and would have worked but we had already modified the original when we found out.

this is a well reported issue. They say the c5 r chain is stronger and better and thats what most use.

I used a double roller on mine but had to use the stock oil pump. just had to gind some of the cover. but I think if you use a high flow oil pump it won't work with the double roller.
