Default low clutch fuild help

I just purchased a 07 vette,It has 22,000 miles and has never been driven hard. When i checked the clutch cylinder tank it was below the bottom line.I am new to these cars and can't believe the slave cylinder would be leaking. As most have said during my search the fuild that was there was black.I bought some dot 4 and filled the tank up to the top line.I am still 450 miles from home. How common is this and is it a easy fix or do i need to go to the dealer.Would this come under the power train warrenty.

There is a bulletin for a flush every 24 months, so you may be due. I sucked it up and paid the dealer to do it shortly after I bought my '08, figured it was good piece of mind. If I wasn't trying to establish a relationship with the dealer I probably would've done the "ranger method." Try searching for it.

As far as warranty, it really shouldn't be. The fluid is a wear item.

Thanks for the reply.I do a lot of mechanic work and understand the dirty fluid, but the only time i have seen low clutch fluid was when the slave cylinder or line would leak.Is this the case here or can something else cause the fluid loss. The orginal owner had the car for 3 years and says he never checked the fluid.I am going to be very dissappointed if the slave cylinder is bad at 20,000 miles. The car is stock and was owned by a 65 year old man who had several 60's corvettes and sold this one to buy a new GS.I am near broke after the purchase.I will check the clutch level when i get home late today.

Do the Ranger fluid change and then just track the level over time. If it does go down, the slave is leaking. There is no other place for the fluid to go. Also look at the bottom of the bell housing to see if there is any evidence of leaking fluid.

I just checked my 09 with 7K and found it's on the low level line. Is there a special fluid for the clutch?

I have a 09 and it goes to the low line about every six months. I cant find any leak.. my friends 05 does it too. I have heard its a common issue on these cars. I just add a touch and head off. no problems so far
