Default QTP Fell Apart :(

Went for a "spirited" drive the other day, and the car didnt sound quite right afterwards, and had a rattle in the rear right where the cutouts were... Well looks like I had a case of hanging QTP

Only had them a few months and my first victim. Looks like the exhaust burned through the wiring. Tired to connect a battery to it, doesnt move at all, its dead...

Will be contacting QTP on monday...

You could splice in a new section of wire if you wanted. Or did the motor fall off and burn through the wire?

Burned through the wire... dont think I should have to splice it back together... I paid good money for it, it should last longer than a few months.

Be careful....another heat related problem is the possibility of a rear leaf spring failure because of the heat from the exhaust flow from the cut outs being directed over the leaf spring.

Check out this thread.....http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...ing-today.html

yeah ive seen that one... the turn downs direct the hot exhaust gasses away from the leaf spring. I dont drive around with them open that much anyway

Ii dont know if you can hold them responsible for an installation that routed the wires too close to the exhaust

the wires were not routed too close to the exhaust. the motors fell off the the qtp brackets, and when dangling by the wire was against the exhaust. the cause of the melted wire is that the qtp cutout fell apart.

qtp wants me to send both cutouts back. hopefully I can get them shipped in the next couple of days.

I had a qtp cutout on my cadillac. It rattled itself apart. I sent it back and never heard from them again.

I had the cutouts on my 99 T/A before I had the vette. Loved them! The only complaint I had was this was one of the first iterations of the design and the butterfly valves would work open when you started the car so you had to work the switch just right to get them completely closed, otherwise they sound like crap with them valve just cracked open. (the problem was due to excess torque in the motor when the valve seated causing the motor to release the stress by opening the valve up slightly). Barry was very helpful and made a great set of headers too! 1 3/4 primaries to a 3" collecter and a high flow y pipe where the cutout mounts were.
