Ok I have been all over the net trying to find a definitive answer.
Using the muti meter set to DC current I see .06 volts. I put the neg. in the coolant and the Pos. on the battery Pos. terminal.
Geez I seen numbers all over the place for reference scale to determine quality. Even a reference to switch the probes orientation from the listed above one.
Well no more confusion...I am going old school and changing coolant every 2 yrs. No worries then....Sorry to the environmentalists for having to endure my waste.
If you have dex cool change it every 5 years and use distilled water to make the 50/50 mix.
That stuff holds up well I seen it in some cars with over 100K and it still smells and looks good.
The old green stuff had to be watched a lot closer then this new stuff.
Old school is really antiquated nowadays. I hated the every two year antifreeze change that the green stuff required. There was no need to inspect it to tell whether it was good either. All you had to do was look at it. With 3 vehicles the green stuff guaranteed I was always changing antifreeze.
Now I just do the 5 year change on the anniversary date of car delivery and wonder why I am throwing out fluid that looks like it is brand new.
Wish I could be as trusting. Been looking for Litmus paper and can not find it either. Checked two auto parts stores and a couple of drug stores. I get a different reading every time using the multi meter.
