Strange Noises
Later arriving home pulling into the garage I noticed another sound, this one was more familiar because
my 2000 conv (automatic) made the same noise. This noise sounds like two metal rings rubbing together, coasting or at very little acceleration.
Could anyone shed a light on these most disturbing sounds coming from beloved z? I'm taking it to a dealer and would like to have some information so I can gage if they are trying to blowing some sun shine.
Any information would be helpful.....
Is it when your starting from a dead stop? Is it only while the clutch is being released? Is it while cruising under load or off load (gas)? Is it under braking while turning? Is it when going over bumps?
Grab your tail pipes at the back of the car and move them as hard as you can left to right and up and down and see if the pipes are hitting the trans/chassis.
Sounds like a dealer trip to me though-
The second noise also starts when the car is warm in 1st gear coasting, I thought it could be the trans until I hit a bump with the window down and heard the noise. I'm not sure if it would be possible for the trans to make this noise from hitting a bump????
Since I posted this thread, I found a couple of articles that referenced torque reversal, however the entire concept sounds strange to me.
