Default Dewitts Radiator Installation

Aloha folks,

I bought a new Dewitts Radiator with the double fan upgrade from TPE a few months back, and had every intention of having a local shop do the installation. Problem is, every time I take my car to them, it comes back with another problem unrelated to the area of address... Therefore, I'd like to attempt the installation myself.

Having said that, has anyone ever done one of these before? Any tips, such as start by removing xyz...?

My primary concern is the electrical. If it's a simple plug and play application, I'd have no problem, but I don't want to assume that that is the case, and then end up having to call someone to tow my car to a shop...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Keith

I've done a few searches, and it would seem that this is not just a few bolts and a couple hoses.

I have the Z51 set up, so I think it has an oil cooler, etc.

Anyone want to buy a brand new radiator with dual fan set up? I think I'd rather just buy a new hood with vents....

How much? PM me with your price if you really want to sell.

Sorry I can't help with the install... I've never done it on a Vette before. It looks pretty straightforward though.

don't know about the fan part but the radiator is pretty simple to change out I have the z51 also I took the radiator out when I changed the cam it was really easy take the top support off take the hoses off the condenser just slips off the front. and it all lifts right off there. you just replace the new one and from I understand the dewits has the oil cooler in the radiator and it is a plug in play item the electrical i have no clue.

The radiator itself is a direct drop in. I did one last summer on my car. The dual fan setup I understand is a little more involved, but really shouldn't be anything you can't handle with a few beers.

Thanks fellas, the radiator is snot the problem, it's the electrical the has me worried.

If if were simply "just plug it in to the factory molex plug", no problem, but I don't think it's going to be that easy....

The thing that makes me a little upset is the lack of support from TPE. I've PM'd them twice and I've gotten no response... They were all over me to get that money, now their nowhere to be found.... Sorry TPE, I gave you over a week, and two messages, now I have to throw you under the bus..

I tell you San, it's EASY buying stuff, getting support from them after is the issue. I've emailed Dewitts, I'll try calling them when I get a chance. My problem is timing. My shop is CRAZY busy in the mornings from 5am thru 2pm, by then, all the mainland shops are closed...

The only guys I've been able to get support from after the fact was A&A.

I think I'll hold off for a local buyer. Shipping to the mainland is astronomical...

I think you need to free up a few minutes to give DeWitts the benefit of the doubt. I would think TPE would chime in here if they value their reputation.

A&A has an outstanding reputation for answering the phone at all hours. I would definitely consider them if I went FI. I've had good look with StopTech myself.

Best of luck to you.

What type of tool do you need to remove the EOC fittings or is there a way to remove them without a special tool?

No special tools, just clips!!,
as far as the electrical hookup for the new style Dewitts dual fan setup
it's very simple, I read a thread describing the electrical and Tom Dewitt
chimed in and verified how simple it was, also mentioned a schematic for the new dual fan controler.
Call Tom, he will be glad to help you.

Keith, 2 ways to install the fan with electronics.
1. tie into the electrical system per instructions with fan, need to put the temp sensor in line somewhere too. so it can sense the temp and control the fans with the supplied relay

2. tie into the vette OEM system by splicing into the output of the stock relay. Dallas Performance did mine, i could take pics but u need more info than that, i would think. you also need to use HP tuners to adjust the fan controls.

3. alternate for now. install the radiator and wait until someone chimes in with an exact answer for the fans. if no answer after a while. the fans are cheaper to ship back to states, than the whole box of radiator/fan package.
