Installed a set of Aftermarket Headers on my stock 06 MN6 Z-51 Coupe at home on jack stands:

This headers install very easily from the BOTTOM of the car. I can do this install in 4 hours.

It has high flow cats and I have NEVER had one DTC that was caused by the header install. Even before the tune..

I also have a VARARAM installed and a self ported TB:

My Mods without a tune had the following results:

- The car runs PIG RICH.
- Fuel mileage went from 26 highway to 23
- Car had more power but was running excessively rich and had a some KNOCK Retard during WOT in a few areas of the HP curve which cause excessive timing to be pulled. With just a set of headers, the engine will run fine but, you will have positive Long Term Fuel Trims and you will lose some fuel efficiency until you correct them with a tune.

AFTER THE TUNE~

I had the car tuned by Chuck at Corvettes Of Westchester in NY. All I can say is WOW. It runs EXCELLENT. NO MORE carbon out the exhaust, Fuel mileage is phenomenal. When I drove to and from Bowling Green Ky this year, on the open road 65-70 mph with two people and a trunk load of luggage, we were were getting 28-29 MPG.

In race trim, it FLIES!

Extremely happy with the mods and tune. Chuck is one of the best tuners around.

I just sold the C6 last week and the new owner is ecstatic with it. Were getting a brand new 2011 Inferno Orange Grand Sport Vert. We leave tomorrow evening for BG and a Museum delivery and get it on Monday. The drive back to CT will be exciting.

YES, the car will be getting a BRAND NEW SET OF AMERICAN RACING HEADERS from Nick at American Racing Headers and a new tune from Chuck!!!!

With the right tuner, your car should NOT have any issues. EFI Live now offers AUTOCAL and that allows you to tune at home using any tuner that has EFI Live. Your tuner sends you a tune. You up load the tune with the installer and data log the car. Send the file back to the tuner and he fine tunes it to YOUR Car. Cant beat that at all

Call Chuck for the details.

You missed a couple of salient points, Bill.

(1) The guarantee in that link above, >>" "RETURN YOUR VEHICLE TO STOCK" programming in mere minutes leaving NO WAY for the dealer to detect a tune."<< is false. You know the dealer can find the footprint in the PCM and tell how many times it's been flashed.

(2) The stock o2 sensors are only truly accurate at a narrow fuel mix, so if we are tuning for power or extra economy, how do we measure leaner or richer mixtures? The answer is, as you may already suspect, with a wideband o2 sensor.

Given a blatant misstatement like number (1) and the over-hyping that misses (2) I'm very reluctant to trust that tuner.

Won't a tunnel plate throw off a little heat in the cabin?

What year is your Vette? It would be helpful if you fill out your profile so we know something about you and your car.
