I HATE my 19" rear wheels, should have been a wide body to begin with or just all 18" rims for a stock C6.
You can't find any good tires for a 19" stock C6 wheel, and god only knows if you move to a 20", you're adding weight, and going to lose traction.
The ZR1 20" wheel combo is by far, the worst thing GM did to that car, there is a reason it only runs 11.0 at 130-131mph through the quarter... put a set of 18" wheels on the back and sticky tires and it'll drop 4 tenths off the ET with practice.
i've been debating wheels for a while now and i definitely don't want to compromise performance.....
other option may be to go 18x9.5 and 19x11
i just havent seen any aftermarket 19's that fill the rear as well as a 20 inch wheel can......i guess this is why its always better to see in person than look at pics!!!
Stock rim size is OK, 20 not so good for stock body C6
I have aftermarket rims in stock sizes & went w/ BFG KDW2s in 255/40/18 & 295/35/19 & have lowered the car max up front & & max + cutting half the bushing out back which fills the wells leaving a one finger gap all the way around. The front/rear combo of tire heights is virtually same as stock, still maintaining a slight front rake which is important to key keep for several reasons b/y the scope of the post, also not throwing off any TC/ABS/AH programs. Finally, traction is hugely improved over GYSCRFs, but w/ 450+rwhp still an issue. If you are running stock up tp 400rwhp overall good choice. Once North of 400rwhp the next step is to move to an "R" compound in 18" or 19" (both available), which weren't available when I added my tires, but will on next set 4 sure! Another note: wider does not translate to better traction either, which is a whole 'nother conversation.
