Just Installed t56 trans and diff- spedo is not working, along with odometer of course, what sensors read the speed, also the sensor on the top of the transmission, what does that read? Is that something to do with the reverse switch??? I assume the 2 that go to the wheels are active handling and abs, not sure about the top of the diff and the 2 plugs on the right side of the trans(passenger side)....I think the drivers side is the trans temp, This is the last hurdle to jump after a diff explosion and a bent outpust shaft. repaired it all on jackstands. I appreciate all the help with all this from the forum members, without this site, and people caring to share info, it would not have been possible for me to tackle myself.
No kiddin' wow im amazing how easy it is to make the odometer not work, especially considering on long trips you could just unplug it and roll on rpm's reference on cruise control.
Changed speed sensor and it didnt fix it, after searching for a while, found a broken wire about 2 feet in front of the plug, butt splice and we have speedo...You know it seems as though every single wire on this thing is too short at the connection, some having to make a turn back on themselves to plug in. That is known to cause weakness over time. not enough wire to work with and the insulation is breaking in areas of high heat and extreme bends, I'm afraid this wire could be one of many in the future that is beginning to show wear from gms mistakes on routing, and length. But for now all is good, thanks all for the support, this is the biggest project I have ever tried myself and now its finished and im back on the road.

I doubt they are mistakes. By making the the wires only as long as they (theoretically) need to be, they save money. How many cars does GM produce a year? Let's say it's one million units. If GM can shave just three feet of copper wire out of each car, that's 3 million feet of copper wire they don't have to purchase. With the price of copper being what it is, that's not chump change even for GM. And that kind of thing is precisely what allows GM to make these cars for us at the price point they do.
