Default Recommendations for 50K service

What products would you recommend for the following:

Auto Transmission Service (Mobil 1 ATF?)
Tune Up (What plug?) Need any other tune up parts?
Cooling System Change?
What else should be serviced?

This C6 will be driven in New England Weather

Thanks!

You're transmission service is done at 100k miles unless you qualify for severe service which is at 50k miles. I waited until 100k miles on my daughter's '99 Coupe and wish I had done it at 50k miles...it wasn't bad but I would have rather done it earlier since you can only get about half of the old fluid out. Go ahead and do the fluid change at 50k and do the fluid/filter at 100k. You can also use Mobil 1 Dexron VI which would be better in your application than the Mobil 1 ATF fluid in my opinion. Either one is an excellent product as well as many other brands like Castrol Dexron VI or Amsoil ATF fluid. Don't fall for the "flush" job since it's much more expensive, is not a true flush, and it only replaces half of the fluid too. The shop will try to lead you to believe they are replacing all of the fluid and that is utter BS.

You don't need a "tune-up" until 100k miles...leave the plugs alone. I will say the 100k mile recommendation is very conservative as I've gone as long as 140k miles before. I'll also say you need to have a set of plug wires on hand when you change the plugs because at least one of them is going to get damaged as they're pulled off the plug...Murphy's Law says so.

Since your car is a 2005 and the coolant change is 5 years/150k miles, you'll need to change it.

If you've never flushed the brake system, it's a good time to do that also. Can't think of anything else, hopefully others will chime in.

Our local tech, talking about the LS1, said the plugs didn't need replacement at 50k but definitely did at 100k. He seemed to feel that 70-80k would be about right.

Some folks say that the plugs can be a real b!tch to remove at 100k.

No personal experience here...

I assume you have changed out the intake air filter and the cabin filter before now. But, if you have not....then you should.

I disagree. Do the plugs. Sure, they'll pass smog and make the engine run for 100K miles and beyond, but by 50K they're usually degraded to the point where new ones make a noticeable difference in low-RPM/idle smoothness.
