Default What about this to make the 05 diff stronger?

http://www.corvettegarage.com/produc...-corvette.html

So the first thing I want to do to my new 05 C6 is change the rear axle ratio from 3.42:1 to 3.90:1. But the fact that the rear diff is weak, or weaker then the 06 and up, makes me worried to drop money in it for fear of it breaking. I was on corvette garage and found this differential strut. (link above). I don't mind droping 400 bucks on the brace if it will solve the problem, but will it solve the problem?

I also want to send the diff to DTE to get the ratio changed, are they a good company, or should I go with a different place.

Thank you for all your help!

That brace does nothing to reinforce the 05 differential. The 05 rear differential splits down the middle 90% of the time because of the weak center case. Your best bet is to just upgrade to an 06+ style differential and forget its back there.

As for DTE they are no longer a supporting vendor on corvette forum. Why not let us here at RPM Transmissions help you out?

Ok I found the site.

So I see you can upgrade to an 06 diff for 600 dollars. So how much would it cost to do the upgrade to the 06 diff and have a 3.90 gear put in it?

Also, it says upgrade to an 06 diff for only 600 dollars. Does that 600 come with everything you need to put the 06 in the 05, or is there something else that I would need to buy. I read somewhere else about the transmission bellhousing needing changed.

I wouldn't spend any money on an 05 diff. You cannot beat RPM for service either. Let them have at it and you'll be happy. I've had built Level V tranmissions in my last 2 vettes with no problems at all.

Ok, I have 2005 C6 Z51, with 500 rwhp, and I want to upgrade my differential to 06+ differential. Do I need just the new differential, or is the more parts I need? How much total? Do You ship to Finland? Thanks! Jari.

If you can come up with a few more $$ get the Z06 diff. RPM did mine and I was blown away by their knowledge, efficiency and what I can classify no other way but professionalism. Footnote...I'm not easily impressed.

So about how much will a diff swap, and regear cost? I'm not looking to spend more then 2500-3000 dollars.

Cost diffs by what you can afford. Give Rodney a call.

Is that included in the 600 dollar cost that RPM charges or is that extra?

just to be clear there aren't aftermarket gears available for the larger z06 diff, if he wants 3.90s as stated
