i recently took delivery and noticed the steering was off, now the roads in jersey were real bad when i picked it up so i figured i needed to drive it a little bit to really see what the issue was, well let me tell you this car hunts for the road the way elmer fudd hunts rabbits!! ive had a dozen or so corvettes over the years and two vipers and the only car i ever had that drove this bad was my 1984 coupe! you could put the wheel in a groove in the road and it would stay there all day. i live on long island so one of the big vette tuners recommended an alignment shop, well he had the car in and out before i even had time to tell him my issues and from the little i was able to see he didnt have anything close to new equipment also no printout! he did claim the whole left side was way out and it drove all over the place which made me feel perhaps he fixed it right! now if it wasnt for the fact that a well respected tuner we all know gave me this guy i would have demanded a printout and probably asked why he didnt talk to me first before touching the car! my question is does anyone else feel there car follows every imperfection in the road? oh and the reason i didnt bring it back to the dealer! ive had to many issues with dealer work! but felt ok about giving it to this shop because he came so highly recommended. also my rear camber looks way off but i was told anything less then a full 1 degree neg camber and the car wouldnt drive right! well it still all over the place if the road is anything less then perfect so i need some imput! is this normal?
The run flat tires are 90% of your problem. The stiff sidewalls of the RF will pull the car all over the place. Had the same issues with my 09 ZO6, switched to Generals when the run flats wore out (12K miles), problem solved. Also am running a set of Invos, no tramlining issues with those either.
I just took delivery of a 2011 Grand sport last week. I think I'm having similar problem with my car tracking with the grooves of the road. Once in the grooves the car seems to be all over the place. I'm also noticing that while driving straight I have to turn the wheel to the left slightly to keep the car straight. If I let go of the wheel the car starts to drift to the right immediately. I'm calling the dealer tomorrow.
did vette doctors recommend the shop? which alignment shop did you go to?
i need an alignment on my car and will probably just bring it out to billman in LI...he's a huge s2000 mechanic who doesn't cut any corners and treats every car like his own!
Remember that alignment is covered under warrenty for the first 7500 miles. Take to dealer and tell them your problem. You can also have them set the car for better tire wear if your not racing the car.
I would not say the runflats are the problem. Myself and my mom both have the original runflats on our cars and they both go perfectly straight, as long as the road is flat and straight. Roads with deep grooves from alot of heavy trucking should be avoiding when trying to determine if you have an alignment issue or not.

After having this issue on my 97 and going to several alignment shops I found I could reduce the hunting if I didn't have too much negative camber and if I had just a little toe in Vs some toe out. I have my 08 Z set up that way and with the EMTs I get little tram lining when driving on roads with lots of pavement seams running all over the place or when driving on a road with deep ruts in the pavement.
Your car has a 6000 mile 1 year alignment warranty! Take it back to the dealer and tell them you are UNHAPPY with the alignment. Hell, its FREE and they do a very good alignment.
I was told about this during my Museum Delivery. The factory had an issue with the line drive off procedure and the people were not hitting the unsettling bumps hard enough to properly settle the suspension before it went to the alignment rack. If your dealer doesn't know about the program TSB, have them call the home office.

taking it to the dealer will be my last resort, but the shop that did the alignment said he would like another crack at it! his machine is old and doesnt even give you printouts. now im sure people would say run!!! but after some conversations with other people that know this shop ive been told he is the best at what he does! and its not about the arrow its about the indian as far as alignment machines go.
