Ok guys due to a fortunate turn of events I very well may be stepping up from my 01 Z to a C6 Z with in the next year, I will def make modifications, full exhaust, S/C, maybe even rotating assembly, wheels, suspension ect.... and as I'm on here researching things and seeing how the LS7 isn't as boost friendly as other LS motors its causing me to question the worth of paying the extra money to start with a Z when a lot of things are going to be modified or changed, especially when I see regular C6's with wide body kits selling way cheaper than stock Z's, I'm just weighing the options to see the wisest way to approach it.
Just MHO...buy the Z06 its much better than the base C6. You can find one with some mods already on them....or just save up a little money for a few mods on a Z06. A Z06 with bolt-ons, or a cam and bolt-ons, will be an insane ride.

I def agree its a better car, my 01 Z performs so much better than the regular 99 6sp C5 I had, they felt like two different cars.
It wouldn't be hard to hit single digit 1/4 passes and 700+ hp on a dyno with an FI Z.
Actually about 700 whp would be my goal but I keep seeing some people talk about how the LS7 isn't as dependable under that level of power, and I see others say they have no issues, why get my LS7 up to that HP level then stand the chance of pushing water or worse.
My buddy has STS turbos on his , 725 RWHP for him. stock block, DTE rear. No problems. He just put the auto trans in his, he was tired of going through clutches.
Does he drive his car a lot, I thought about turbos but wanted to keep it more simple. I want good power but not at the cost of reliability/dependibilty
why not start with a slightly used GS and modify it. You get a better suspension, and engine that better takes boost and good looks. Plus at a lower cost. And an auto if you like and no clutch problems
Just sone thing to consider. Plus it will be qiueter inside and ride nicer.

I will look at those, I'm open right now because I have time to research and the opinions like yours are what I'm looking for.
The Z06 is lighter than a GS to start with. That is an advantage that is hard to overcome without stripping stuff out of the GS. Where are you going to use the extra power? At a drag strip, if so go for it? On the street other than some short couple of second duration blasts you will never be able to use what the stock Z gives you. If its just show then make it look like its supercharged and just tell everybody it has 700 rwhp and they will never know.

Plenty of people use well over ~450rwhp on the street
