Hey guys...I just thought I'd share some info that I figured out after hours of reading and trying to get my 08 key fob programmed in my 07 coupe. (my thumbs are numb at the moment) I was not able to get the DIC to display the programming information after the 5 key turns method so I pulled out the back carpet and had a look at the locking mechanism. I then tried manually pushing the locking mechanism by hand for the 5 times and as soon as I did that the DIC displayed the "ready for Fob X' message. I'm assuming that the key turns were not fully pulling the lock all the way so by hand it solves that problem instantly. So for anybody who is having problems programming a key fob try this method and you might have some luck.
Excellent post. Tried half a dozen times to reprogram fobs and could never get the DIC to respond. Found this post, pulled the carpet back manually pushed the lever down with a screwdriver as hard as I could safely without breaking anything a few times (about a dozen) then tried the key again like the instructions say and it worked perfectly. Either the contacts were dirty or using the screwdriver against the latch helped the latch bend or make better contact when I went back to the key. Couldn't happier at the moment. Hopped onto the computer while I go through the erase fob process to reprogram all fobs from scratch. Again this little gem of a post took care of me perfectly. Thanks!
One more update....one more experience with this problem. I removed the carpet, tried manually moving the latch, even tried pulling directly on the cable that the key moves with no results. I then followed the two electrical wires that are bunched with the cable back to a connector which is just on the driver's side of the latch down low. I separated the connector and used a straightened paper clip cut into two pieces to poke into the female side of the connector. I then tapped the two pieces of paper clip together 5 times and immediately got the message on the dash that it was ready to program. Plugged my new remote into the learning slot and in two seconds it was ready. My cable has a bit of slack in it but my key opens the trunk with no problems. Don't know why it wouldn't go into programming mode when I took needle nose vise grips and pulled DIRECTLY on the cable but the paper clip method worked great for me. Hope this helps someone!
This is great info and I have added the OP's post and post #8 to my FOB programming instruction thread in the FAQ. Thanks to RickT also for letting me know about this thread.
What worked for me after never getting any response from just shutting the car off with the manual in neutral and e-brake on and turning the key 5 times. Putting the car in reverse solved my problem. Once I did that my 2007 went into program mode after turning trunk the key 5 times. Funny it never mentioned it in the manual. This is where I found the info...http://mechanics.stackexchange.com/q...ob/26234#26234.

How did you identify the two wires in the connector to short together using a paper clip?
Steve2ski : Did you ever find out how to identify the wires coming from the trunk key switch ? My guess is that they are the two light guage wires that are paired with the mechanical actuator cable coming from the key. Looked up the trunk key assembly and it would appear that the switch is located at the key itself not in the actual mechanical locking mechanism. Used an Ohmmeter on the male end of the connector and operated the key and the meter showed a switch closure on the other end of the wires. Tried the paper clip method it worked. Also started the car placed the trans in reverse and then shut it down. Not sure which of the 2 let me program the fob but I'm not one to argue with success.
