Default Cats or no cats?

I am considering adding headers to my '05 C6 coupe M6 in the spring. I live in Indiana where there is no emmisions testing. Is there any reason for me to pay extra for catted tubes? I guess if testing came to us, or I moved to a testing state, I could put cats on.

Also, is there much difference in sound, both inside and outside the car? I have Corsa sports.

Thanks in advance for settin' a Vette newbie straight.....

no cats= unburned fuel smell on your clothes. Buy high flow cats if possible.

uncatted your gonna pick up a lil extra power ,spend less $. when you have it tuned just have them turn off the rear o2 sensors. most people have the rear sensors turned off anyway with highflow cats to keep from turning on sel light. i lived in indy for 25 years it will be along time before they ever do inspections and if they do with the rear o2s off they will never know unless they put the car on a lift and look (which they wont) i live in houston now. no cats and state inspections no prob. so go no cats save money and get extra power.

You may pick up a whopping 3 HP with the offroad x-pipe and with the Sport it will sound like a wild caged animal. I had this but couldn't stand the smell. Went back to high flow cats but had to switch to Corsa Xtreme to get my sound back.

I will never run a car without cats....It sounds like there are rocks in your exhaust with all the poping and pinging...The Smell is terrible and stinks up your garage. On the up side you will get 5 to 10hp....If that is worth it to you then go for it.

Unless your going to make BIG power keep the cats. IMO

Default Not worth tradeoffs

No cats will give you absolutely no discernable notice in perf., HP, etc. It will provide very discernable difference in exhuast volume & noxious gas smell. When I reasearched modding my car a drove an overcammed, headers w/ no cats geared C6 & I couldn't wait to get out. I still cammed added headers w/ cats along w/ the rest of the basic bolt ons & made virtually the same performance level w/o making the car run, sound, smell, & drive barely noticeable from stock until you hit the gas. The cars were virtually identical to start the final products were 60's style muscle (downsides) vs. hi-tech performance car.
