Default No tune performance mods

So I have the back end exhaust now and will be doing some type of intake mod (prolly the vette scoop, cant justify hundreds for a CAI that I dont think delivers what they claim), what else can I do for more hp/tq that doesnt require a tune? Does a converter require a tune? Thanks.

No HP increases from a converter. A small converter should not require a tune. Often bigger converters don't require a tune, although it is more pleasant to drive after a tune and WOT shift points can be optimized.

Good tires don't require a tune and would make you quicker from a dig.

You could do a converter and gears without NEEDING a tune.

Does the A6 shift off mph tables at part throttle or use mph as a secondary trigger for WOT? If yes, a tune is probably in order for a significant change in gear ratios.

Pretty much ANY mod (engine related) should be accompanied by a tune to get full benefit from it. Even a stone stock engine will pick up power from a tune.

When I go in for my free oil change I will try to get a feel for how the service manager feels on tunes and warranties. If he is fine with them as my last two car companies were, then I will do a tune with whatever mods I do. But if it kills it then maybe the converter and intake mod will be it for awhile. If I can get a tune then I think the next time I go TDY I will send in my IM and TB for port/polish and tune. Im hoping that the intake, exhaust, and the P/P, and tune will get me close to 450whp.

Keep in mind that the service manager does not have the last say on your warranty. The GM warranty rep decides if your warranty is voided or not. Any warranty work that gets done gets submitted to them and they set the criteria as to what to look for. ie; tune, headers, etc. So a verbal agreement with your service manager wont mean much if they decide they don't want to eat the cost of repairs if/when GM denies reimbursement. Just a warning. That being said, these cars are pretty damn strong given proper maintenance and care.

Thanks for the warning. I will have to think on what I want to do now.
