So I noticed on my car tonight that my oil pressure gauge was pegged down below the 80 on my instrument panel. I scrolled through the diagnostics and noticed I had a reading of 130 psi that fluxuated down to about 117 psi. No error message came up on the panel. What should I start with in diagnosing what is causing this abnormal reading? Also, what is a normal reading and is it safe to drive? Thanks for your responses. Merry Christmas!
Bad sensor. I've been through 2 or 3 of them myself because of water hitting the top of the sensor and shorting them out. I've since corrected the water drainage issue.
The sensor is designed to "peg" when it goes bad. Easy fix thankfully. I "heard" the brass aftermarket sensor is suppose to be better. I picked on up from Adv Auto for pretty cheap. Either way you can still get a stock one pretty cheap from the dealership.
Unless you can fit a deep socket back there you'll need to pull the intake to swap it out. I actually made a hole under the plastic trim at the cowl to access mine from above. R&R took no time.

You have a bad sensor, all it takes is to remove the intake manfold to get access to the sensor that is directly behind the intake. Just replace it and you will be fine.

Hmm. I think I may have to warranty this one out. Also is it worth it to do the SERVICE II??? Where they replace spark plugs and do a fuel system overhaul and some other things???

Don't you have a new motor under warranty? Let them do it
