Its possible too that just the sensor failed and your valvetrain is fine.

Sorry to say that, but I had the some codes when my timing chain broke. It's a good check to remove the valve covers and see what happens if you crank it over. I hope you'll be fine!

In fact that is the most probable failure and should be checked first. Timing chain failures are rare unless the car has a lot of miles. No sense jumping off the bridge into a major effort until the sensor itself is checked for proper operation.

06 only had 36K warranty. 07 is when they changed.

Sorry to hear it. Don't make any assumptions though. If you are not capable of doing the work yourself, get the car to one of the half dozen LS shops in your area. Let them do a complete tear-down and diagnosis and go from there. No sense in throwing money at it if you don't know the full extent of the damage. Get all the info and consult with the shop as to what they recommend you do based on your goals and budget. Don't worry you'll get it all worked out.

Mine had about 10.000 miles in it when it happened. Only minor bolt-ons, not even a header. No warranty either. it was a good opportunity to build something stronger. I'm really sorry for the OP, he should let it done by a reputable shop, and make no guessing, he will have tear it apart anyway.

Let me ask another dumb question... Now that I know the timing chain broke. what are the odds that I can put a new chain on and not have any other issues? or am I almost guranteed that Iv bent valves? and yes I am taking it to the shop I just wanted to know the possabilities of it being just a chain

Odds are slim to none that no other damage was done when it broke. I have seen a few timing chain failures and they all resulted in bent valves and/or piston damage.

There may be a slim chance it only needs a chain. I'm no mechanic and I don't know if there is any similar things going on in the Vette engine compared to a 4clyn engine in a Grand Am but years ago I had a timing belt break on my Grand Am. I was on the freeway and cranked away trying to get it started and finally had it towed to the dealer. Broken timing belt was replace along with the water pump and no other internal damage was done. I was expecting a lot more damage when I heard the belt broke and was surprised there was none. It may be totally different in these engines, I don't know, but I'm just trying to give you a glimmer of hope.
