Default catback vs. catback w/headers

i love the sound of my car (bassani cat back system), but would like it to sound a little bit more aggressive w/o losing that sweet exhaust note.....i bought some 1 7/8 kooks headers,lg hi-flow cats, fast 102lsxr intake (ported).....mow much is this going to change the exhaust note?

Your car currently has an H-pipe on it which DOES provide a bit deeper tone than an X-pipe, but overall the general tone of your car will be similar, as the mufflers have greatest effect on that, just much louder and you will have more drone around 1500-1700 rpms.

If you install the longtubes and the ported FAST at the same time you'll be driving an entirely new animal. You'll love it.

If you have an LS2. You will probally see 20-30whp with a ported FAST on a bolt on car.

You'll probably gain in the realm of 50-60rwhp at peak and pick up TONS of power/torque under the curve.

Ah I see, I didn't know you had the bassani x-pipe installed. I was assuming just the rear-section and kept the stock h-pipe.

In that case, the "tone" of the exhaust won't change that much, but it will be greatly amplified and will only be slightly higher pitch due to the construction of the longtubes versus the very heavy stock manifolds.

When I put my headers and catted 3" x pipe after already having magnaflow mufflers it made the tone more ringy sounding. Quite abit more aggressive. I love the way it sounds.

20-30rwhp is actually the norm for a ported FAST on an LS2

Seems like alot. I would love to see a dyno of only a FAST install and see what the actual gains are.

People get ~15 from just a ported stocker.

You don't believe that a ported FAST would at least add another 5rwhp?

Why is it the FAST is only referred to in terms of the LS2. Do they not make one for the LS3? TIA

They make one, but the gains are far less in comparison to the LS2, which has the worst LS intake manifold since the 98-99 LS1 Fbodies.

The fact that the LS2 intake manifold is SO BAD is why the gains are so awesome.

Most of what I hear is the FAST isnt much better than the ported stock unit. Lots of unsubstansiated claims as always with these things. I'm curious to see actual confirmed data showing close to 30 hp with a ported FAST. I havent seen any, have you? If its true(and maybe it is) I would consider one for my car.

Yes, I have.

More than one thread has been on this forum showing gains over stock and over ported stock intakes.

You can search and find them.

Here is a good thread showing the LS2 intake compared with various other intakes, including the FAST 90 (unported) showing 22hp and 22tq increase.

http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=289456

I should have my own dyno results tomorrow going from stock to ported FAST 90. I made 367 before. My mods since then have been the FAST 90 and a 3200 converter (which generally robs a little power on the dyno).
