Default Should I purchase these headers?

Hey guys i'm piecing together all my mods before an install and i'm about to purchase some headers. I've good things about LG headers and was thinking about getting 1 3/4 long tube street series with the high flow cats (http://www.lgmotorsports.com/catalog...oducts_id=1698), but was wondering if there any other competing ones you guys might recommend.

At this point all I have is a Halltech intake, magnaflow exhaust. Along with the headers I plan to replace the clutch/flywheel setup, underdrive pulley and a short shifter. I do not plan to do anymore than this as my car is driven everyday. If you guys have any advice on any of these let me know. Thanks guys.

The top three headers are: LG, Kooks, and American Racing. They are all quality stainless steel headers.

Try comparing with MD Speed for their Kooks sale and Vette Air for American Racing.

I looked at Kooks, but I still find the LG a better value. They come with the X pipe included and its 200 bucks more for the high flow cats.

Will I lose top end power with the LG's though?

Can't go wrong with any of the big three.

There are quite a few brands of headers other than the big three that could also be looked at for our cars and they will all make similar power.

LGs tend to make a bit more torque in the mid-range area due to their long primaries.

coatings help alot .dont really make any more power when you coat headers. but keeps underhood temps down and makes them look pretty longer. since your near houston talk to Carl at PolyDyn about his coatings. they have coatings for EVERYTHING. the small block i just built they coated every single part of the engine. they have heat coatings, anti friction coatings, oil shedding coatings, bearing coatings. so yes coatings do make a diff but its up to you as they do add $$ to total of the build. but i recommend a heat coating on the headers where ever you might get it done.

Just to be clear, he's looking at the 'street' series from LG, not the SuperPro's

What do you recommend, Super Pro or Street Series. The difference is 500 bucks with the cats so I do not mind spending the extra buck to make sure I get the right product with any regrets down the line.

I prefer to do things right the first time instead of swapping out the parts later.

The super pro has a better merge collector and I believe is 3" through the mid pipe and finally tapers at the end if you need 2.5"

I'd buy the OBX headers before the 'street' series (hopefully this doesn't open a can of worms)

I have LG's only cause I bought them from LG as take offs for $650 with shipping. IMO your paying extra for LG cause they are LG. There is a thread where someone bought the WAY cheaper chinese OBX headers and they make pretty much the same in the HP and TQ range as every other header sold for C6's. The coating is a good idea but again IMO a waste of money unless you are drag racing which you said it was a DD. I don't have mine coated and live in TX where it's blazing plastic melting hot 13 months out of the year lol. Never had a problem with the under hood temps. The Vette is designed to efficently cool and pull air out of the engine bay. Which is does well. In the end buy what you want to buy you asked so I gave MY opinion which WILL probably differ from other peoples including maybe yours. GL sir!!

I'm also from Texas and if you dont have any problems with your LG's then i wont be too prone to getting them coated. The LG's i'm looking at cuz i have not heard anythign bad abt them from anybody, period. Regardless of the price, I prefer to get headers that are reliable.

As for OBX I used to own an Acura CL-S and decided to pass up Comptech for OBX headers, ended up getting a crack in them and then buying Comptech ones...lol. I think i'll stay away from chinese products made for american cars, no offense to anyone.

Coating is a waste as far as I'm concerned. Stainless will stay looking good without it.
