Or... You could determine what is causing the chime, and either fix what's wrong, or get someone with HP tuners to turn off the reporting for that error for you (it'll cost an HP tuners license, $99 plus whatever they charge).
The radio is used to adjust the chimes volume level.
There are 2 settings, loud and louder.
With the ignition on and the radio power off, press and hold button #6, the volume level will change from normal to loud and "loud' will appear in the radio's display.
Repeat the process to change to normal and "normal" will be displayed.
This is in the Owner's Manual for the radio with CD (with or without Bose) but I'm not sure what's in the Nav's Manual.
I have no bell sound at all! I remeber watching a vid of Jay Leno talking about the nice bell sound when he opens his Vettes door. I always wondered why I have never heard it?

Try leaving your lights on and getting out?
When the OP was talking chime, I thought he meant the fault chime like when you get a "service charging system" message on the DIC.
That is ear splitting loud, 20x louder than the "lights are on" chime. It drowns out the radio or any conversation and is extremely annoying. I had to turn off the charging system error reporting when I went to an underdrive pulley. I've not had any charging issues in nearly 3 years now.
