Default Cleaning painted brake calipers. What do you use?

Cleaning brake calipers. What do you use? I presently have my brake calipers painted Lemans Blue to match my car and dirt does not show very much. I'm thinking of painting them red and I think dirt will show up more. What do you use to clean your calipers?

I spray some wheel cleaner on them and let it sit for 15mins. Then hose them off. Just make sure your brakes are cool. A steam cleaner will work the best from what I've seen.

Red does not get dirty. And the cheap caliper paint kit from wal mart has held up now for nearly 5 years on mine and still looks great.

I do have ceramic pads.

I reach in with my rag I'm using to clean the wheels and use soap and water. I also use a long soft brush to clean the wheel barrels and use that to get between the wheel and the caliper.

Soap and water with a rag. Trick is to not let them get to dirty in the first place.

That is the key. It stops the wheels from getting permanent stains.

Standard ceramic pads from your local auto parts store are the best deal and last a long time and stop well and no dust. Ive used them on my Vettes since 2002 and wouldn't use any other (except on the road course, they are no good for that).

I have had the Autozone Ceramics on mine for the past 2 year with no issues. No way I would use these for the track or hard back road sprints. That is what the Carbotechs are for. 4 hard stops and the ceramics are gone. For regular street driving, the work great and don't dust. I wash my calipers after every track day with a degreaser so they don't get too dirty. Touch them up every now and then with header paint.

Good to know Adam. Looking forward to trying out XP10/8 pads for an DE this October. Will definately keep the 1521 in mind for my next set of street pads.

I have red calipers with ceramic pads and yes the calipers get dirty up against the inside of the rim down in the grooves, I don't mess with q-tip on calipers just spray them down with simple green and wash spray the calipers out.

Your calipers must be Magic...LOL jk

Shiny red
