I think that is nuts, and smacks of dishonesty.

If you race your car you need to be prepared to fix it if it breaks. There's a reason nobody warrants race parts or race cars.

If you're not willing to take that risk, ala LBear, do like he does and don't mod your car or race it. I spent $5000+ on a rear and trans when I blew it at the race track. I didn't try to warranty it. I know that's a risk each time I launch the car at 6k. If I couldn't afford it I'd find something else to do for fun.

Back on point of the thread, I personally think for those that don't want to learn to tune, and want to run race fuel, or more boost, or NOS, and want a tune truly optimized for those items, this is a fantastic option.

Well, I assume people would always drive around with the stock ECU on the street, then if they went to the track, put the tuned ECU in since that's really the only time a few tenths from some extra hp would matter (just like the BOSS 302 track key basically). If the car breaks at the track, I don't think simply taking an ECU out is going to 'hide' any evidence of that kind of abuse.

If the car did have a normal break down on the street though, it would be nice to have it happen on a stock ECU so there is no fighting back and forth with the dealer on an ECU causing some random failure like the broken needle bearing issues w/the LS7 or whatever.

Oh I was thinking in the lines someone would always run the upgraded tune and when needed warranty work they would switch back.

$540 a little pricey, since the guts kits eres selling for under $200, and the guys at PCMCalibrators have this summer special

For the summer special we are letting the Dual-Flash PCM's go out the door for $350 + shipping for complete units that will not need additional licensing.

The issues I see with the setup are, you need to shut the vehicle off for switching the tunes
I don't think its availible for the newer PCM's only the older ones with the 2 80 pin long connectors on them.
It would be easier to carry a EFI Live V2 and use it to flash and do black box logging, plus with the SD cards you could have dozens of tunes, not just 2

I'm all for dual tunes...mostly for Nitrous + n/a tuning scenarios.

If you think that's the same thing then I don't think you undestand the thread.

No, it was a dual use PCM. Normal driving or throw a switch on the dash and it added ignition timing, added fuel and allowed more boost (also required 100 Octane) . Normal HP/TQ until you flip the switch and then 270HP/300TQ. Both tunes in the same PCM but controllable by a switch. Definitely a dual use PCM.
