I have a set of c6 headlights that need to come apart to clean them out. I think that they were in a flood car. How do I get the lens off? What parts will I need? Thanks.
The lens is bonded to the housing with a mastic type material similar to windshield sealer. It IS NOT easy to take them apart. A few have been successful baking them to soften the sealer but it's a fine line between just enough heat and melting everything. Others say to use a Dremel type tool to cut the sealer.
Just for info, member RLSebring is kind of the headlight expert around here. Might contact him for advice. Also, EastCoast Performance offers a service where they will replace the lens. Here's the link:
I just did this... it was easy as pie. 15 min @ 275* and just pry it apart. if you wait to long you might need to put it back in the oven to warm it up...

Awesome ..... what did you use to re-seal it? Same existing glue just re-heating?

I heard 20 min @ 225. I need to do this, Just have not been brave enough. I have a spare set that I would like to modify and put new lenses on. RL was not too helpful on the details of removing the lense. I would think that you could just reheat to reseal the new lense?

If you do this, let us know how it goes. I would think the re-heat would help seal the lens.
