Keeping my fingers crossed, I got up this morning and clerard the code and put four new wires in and started the enhine and let it heat up to operating temp..bout 210-220 and let ot idle the whole time. The light did not come on..knock on wood and the idle was smooth and steady at 950. I will let it cool dopwn for a couple of hours and try it again. Bob
Also double check to make sure the low voltage wires on each coil and each injector are plugged in..since you had a cam put in, somebody's taken them out before, and sometimes they come loose. I had the low voltage plug on one coil come loose and got the p0300.
I also couldn't agree more with Bill to not take a cammed and tuned car to the dealer. Take it back to the shop that put in the cam if at all possible, or another reputable tuner shop. Oh, and with a cam, you should replace the springs at 20,000 miles or so.
Bill, I've also found the hand held scanners don't give the individual cylinder codes, just 0300.

This car idles perfect and when I dropve down the road a few minutes ago it was smooth as glass with no skip or cutting out, had plenty of power and when I got back the idle was fine. Stupid question...Would a loose gas pap throw a 0300 type code?

No.
A loose or faulty gas cap will cause the car to say "check gas cap" in the drivers info center under the tach and speedo.
Check for loose wires on the coils and injectors...
Just a quick update on my problem. I finally went out and bought a real code reader and when i checked the code it showed P0300, I then scrolled down to GM and it read codeP0030, which is the drivers side 02 sensor...upstream. Well I went to the dealer and bought the new 02 sensor and put it in. Then I erased the code and drove around. No light. I shut it of and cranked it up again and still no light. Put about 50 milesd on it and everything is fine. Thanks everyone for all your help and concern. This is what make this a great forum....people caring....semperfi everyone...VNVETT
