Default HELP!! Driver's side head removal!!

Hey guys,

Passenger side head popped right off, no problems.

I want to take off the driver's side head now, but from what I can see there is no way to get the alternator bracket off without removing the pump below it and the ABS control box to pull the pulley off the thing.

PLEASE HELP! Is there any way to remove this alternator bracket without removing the pump below it and the brake lines??

Thanks, any help is much appreciated!!!

Use a 15mm wrench to remove the 4 bolts in the head. It is eaiser to remove the waterpump for axcess. It is not neccessary to remove the P/S pulley or the ABS unit. Hope that helps.

Its all on one bracket. I would think you could unbolt the pump and leave the lines connected. Thats what I'm going to try when I swap out the bracket for one I polished.

I got 3 bolts out, the two on the top, and the one right behind the power steering pulley... The last one in the head seems to be impossible to get to, anyone have any ideas?

Its doable.... Ive done it numerous times. You just need to use a 15mm combo wrench and you can only rotate the fastener ONE FLAT AT A TIME Pull the bracket away from the block as you loosen the screw It will come loose!

Be careful reinstalling the bolt. MAKE SURE that you do not cross thread it. Its easy to do. It should NOT be difficult threading in.

Thanks Bill! Do you go from the top with the open ended wrench or from the left side looking at the bolt head?

I got the wrench on from the top, and tried to turn it loose but the bottom hose that goes to the power steering reservoir was preventing me from turning it loose... Hmm, ill have to mess with it.

Thanks again,
Bryan
