What's their towing capacity? Is it 1/4 or 1/8 steel?

They're not used to TOW, but to be TOWED.

If you spin off at the track and need help getting back on or to the pits.
Some guys use them to winch their cars up on the trailer also.

I understand I'm looking for a capacity, say I'm stuck in muddy grass, how much force can they withstand before either the metal sheers or the bolts snap? My tow strap is rated at 7000lbs. Are the hooks 1/4in or 1/8? They look thin in the picture

I have the Brey-Krause tow hook and it's 3/16". It has some flex to it because of the 90* angle and how they mount but it's plenty sturdy and should be enough to get you out of the mud. Fortunately I have not had to test it.
