So this noise is driving me nuts. At idle I dont hear it or its very low but when I accel I hear the clicking noise getting louder. Has anyone had this too? If so what was the cause? Thanks.
I had the same thing in my heads cam 08, it was driving me insane! Finally found that the noise was coming from a broken timing chain guide but I hope you have better luck then I did

I have had my 05 for about a month, I have heard a clicking/flapping sound on acceleration a couple of times. It is my daily driver so I have started it 100 times and heard the noise maybe 3 times just for a few seconds under acceleration right after start up.
How would you "check it" JsBc6 did your timing chain break or would I find debris in the oilpan before the chain had serious issues?
Im using 91 oct which is the highest I can get here and the clicking noise is always there but gets louder and faster as the rpms go up. When the rpms go down so does the clicking. Lifters maybe? Im hoping its normal but just noisy but not an issue.
Just a thought, are you hearing this when pulling off slowly from a stop and then it goes away?
I have that issue... 2 friends with c5s said theres do the same thing, supposedly normal so i never worried about it.. whats the cause???

Just a thought, maybe the injectors?? If its loud enough to hear while going say 50+mph id say it something else then

In this case only, its probably the rear-wheel half-shaft splines have dried up. Easy fix. I used motorcycle chain lube in a spray can. Remove the 33mm axle nut which will allow you to slide the shaft in and out a bit. Spray in a "little" chain lube around the splines, top, bottom, sides...etc. Do not spray so much that its dripping onto the rotor. Tighten the nut back down. I don't remember the torque but it was up there, like 140ftlbs or similar. Repeat on the opposite wheel. This only takes minutes on each wheel to do.
hey man...i was trying to figure out what was clicking on my 06 vette... the clicking wasnt like when you start the car, my clicking was when i get to around 30...the faster i go from there the clicking was louder and faster. it felt like it was coming from the feet of the passenger side, or behind radio or so. Turns out that it was a wire or something like that from the O2 sensor ( i believe that is what the mechanic told me) . The wire came loose and it was vibrating and hitting against a guard or against something causing that clicking. So he just got underneath it and put it back in place....
I would recommend you look under the car and make sure there isnt anything loose bc it didnt cost anything to get it fixed! Hope this is your simple solution to your problem!

Thanks for the tip, I will have to get it on a lift and look.

Thanks for the info dgrant3830... I went out the other day to try to pin point where the sound was coming from and possibly give ur fix a try...
However, I could hear it coming from up front further, probably forward of the driver, maybe the clutch??
Also notice it will do this in 2nd or 3rd gear when rolling very slow with RPMs around 800 and goes away after 12-1300?
Any clues?? Not too worried about it, doesnt seem to be affecting anything and heard other cars doing the same.... but still curious
On my C-5, too me, inside the car, it sounded more forward than rearward. On the C-6, we've all found that sounds travel as you would least expect it. As for this sound, try jacking up one wheel at a time and spin it. I'm wondering if you've got a damaged wheel bearing but those splines on the half-shafts still nags me in relation to your issue. I've not heard of anyone having that happen on a C-6 yet, including my own but who knows.
Yes it varies with the rpms. Is there a way to tell which or do I have to do each one seperately?
You'll have to check the resistance on each injector separately, but you don't need to remove them. It should only take ~10 minutes. I don't recall the correct resistance, but a search through this forum should tell you. Good luck!
