After I finish the cam install on my engine, is there a way, or need to prime the oil pump prior to starting the engine? In my Camaro, I used a tool to prime the pump down through the distributor hole, but what about an LS/2? BTW, I did use cam lube.

Little known fact...hold the gas pedal on the floor when you hit the starter and the engine will spin over but will not start.
You can make a simple pre-lube tool with a piece of 4" pvc pipe, a fixed cap, a threaded cap and some injector fuel line. Drill and tap the two caps, one for a small ball valve , the other for an air chuck, get into an oil galley, the oil cooler manifold above the oil filter can be tapped, add your oil to the pvc tank, add some air pressure and it will fill all the oil galleys , filter, pump etc, without spinning your motor .
If the lifters are new and dry, use the pressurizer and then rotate the engine 1/2 turn and do it again, then another 1/2 turn and then another. This will help fill all the lifters before you start the engine.
