My car is in the shop getting Corsa Sport mufflers being put on, while it is there I was thinking of maybe changing some fluids. The car has 32k miles on it, and I bought it used with 27k miles. At the end of October I was at ECS to get longtube headers put on with a SC600 kit of theirs + methanol. What fluids should be changed? I don't know what (If at all) the previous owner may have had changed.
The regular motor oil is fine, it was changed with the S/C oil a few weeks back before snow and then the car just sat. I doesn't get driven a lot, just on the weekends weather permitting. As of now it hasn't been raced, waiting for drag radials once the weather clears up for good come spring.
I was thinking trans kit + flush, and the rearend fluid? Should I bother with flushing the brake fluid, or coolant? Any feedback would be great, I would need to know by 10 am or so tomorrow if I decide to get it done while it's in the shop. Thanks!
I would do the tranny, rearend and coolant. You could go longer....50K but, if your like me you want to make sure everything is in good order. I do maintenance in stages....a little now a little later. As far as the brake fluid goes I would wait until after 50K or when you replace the rear brakes. Good luck
Brake fluid would be my priority. BF is hygroscopic(absorbes moisture) and 4+ years is long enough. I would drain and refill. A Tech II machine should be used to fully extract all the old fluid.
