Default P0174 Lean Code Bank 2

Ok, I know there has been several threads on the lean codes (already searched ) so please bear with me during my personal crises!

I have an 08 LS3. It has a Vararam (1000-1200 miles on it) and a 160 degree t-stat (300-400 miles). The car has a little over 18000 miles on it.

This morning, I am on my way to work after the car has been sitting for 6 days. The coolant temp is about 90 degrees and I get the CEL light pop up. The car runs normally and heats up to 175-180 degrees like normal.I come home after work (light is still on) and plug in my scanner and learn that I have code #P0174 Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2.

What would cause the code for one side? I figure that a faulty MAF sensor, air leak between the MAF and intake, or a vacuum leak would cause both banks to throw a code. Should I take it to the dealer or is there something that I should trouble shoot before taking it to the "pro's"?

TIA

you would think if you had issues it would effect both sides, but keep in mind things like intake gasket being sucked out on one side wouldnt effect the other. I would rest the codes and swap the right and left sensor (easy to do) and drive and see if the same side comes up. More then likely the sensor is the issue or a vacuum leak. Past that it can be a bad temp sensor (causing rich fowling out the sensor) or maf sensotr as well. Start with the basics, check for vacuum leaks first then sensor swap then the real fun begins. The easy check is to watch that sensor on your scanner and make sure it is switching from rich to lean (past 500 mv's) after the sensor is heated up

I assume you mean the O2 sensor? If so, the front or rear sensors?

Always check the front 02's that is what the computer uses to adjust fuel trims. There is another thread active right now with the exact same issue read that one

If you have a scan tool see what the Bank 1 long term fuel trims are at…if both banks lean you go left…if only one bank lean you go right in your diagnosis…the bank 1 may be close to setting a DTC !!
