This is a thread that comes up almost daily. There are so many options that it will make you nuts. I can tell you that if you want a great product, go with B & B Fusions. Load when you want, quiet when you want. Like NPP's or Z06.
Be sure you get a CAT-BACK if that's what you want, most of what you see advertized is really an axle-back. To be a true Cat-Back it has to include a mid pipe, if there is no mid pipe it's an axle-back.
There are several systems out there, but if you decide you do not want drone, then you are limited to the Corsa Sport, an OEM Z06 or NPP Bi-Mode system, or the B&B Fusion Bi-Mode exhaust.
I disagree with haljenson. Almost all C6 exhaust systems are axle back systems. Some manufacturers sell a new mid pipe with resonators (like the Corsa Touring), but if you decide to add headers this expensive mid pipe must be replaced by a matching mid pipe from the header manufacturer and you have wasted your money.
Additionally, these exhaust systems do not add horsepower, only more or less sound.
Since you have a M6 then there's no choice. GHL's street series. They look and sound great...that's if you like a nice deep rumble, low price and great looking tips. That's my 2 cents..

Or a variety of other exhaust options. My Borla Multicore added zero drone. It provides an exterior sound between touring and sport systems. I have an A4 with 2.73s.
OP - Go listen to a variety of systems in person and don't listen to me or anyone else on here; all opinions.

Did you install the x-pipe with your multi-core? I did not. The resonance between 1400 and 1700 is just too much. Installed venturis. Not much difference. Looking for someone to swap for touring.

When I purchased it, an x-pipe was only available with the Z06 model (3"). I know it's more readily available now, but do you have the 2.5" or 3"? That could definitely cause a difference. Are you otherwise stock?
2.5". All stock except for the Multi-core rear section. I considered the x-pipe which is available but was not sure how the multi-core would sound so wanted to limit the financial risk. The x-pipe is another $500 on top of the $1500+ for the rear section. This system has a great sound, but peaks between 1400 and 1700 RPM which pretty much covers 65-80MPH. Wish I had been more conservative and gone for the touring system. Like to find someone who has that and wants more sound---would make a great trade.
I went with the Corsa Sport with the 4" tips, axle back. I read somewhere if you add the X pipe, its quieter. Here is a video of the difference between stock and sport. Trust me, you'll love the sport exhaust. No drone! I just wish it would stop raining here in the northwest! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-SGo4IA0Ko
