Default Time for New Shoes

Looking to purchase new tires for my C6. Not concerned at all about tread wear or wet driving. I have been doing some research and am thinking either the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 or the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP. I would really love to go for the Pilot Sport PS2 ZP but are they really worth almost double?

Is there anyone that is running any of these tires?

I had the RE-11 on my car when I was at about 580 whp. It was the best street tire I had tried...much better than Nitto Invos. I believe RE-11s will be a great tire for you if you are making 500 whp or less.

At your power levels the Invos should be fine, here's a few price comparisons for you, for a few tires that would work:

Nitto INVO $251/ea 285/35R-19
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=285

Nitto INVO $270/ea 305/30R-19XL
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=305

RE-11 $298/ea 285/35R-19
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=285

Stock sizes for the vette are 245/40-18 front, and 285/35-19 rear. If you're pushing 100rwhp more than stock, you might consider doing the 305 Invos. At your power level that size should do fine. It's the biggest you can go on your stock wheels

BTW the Invos are rated to lasting longer than the RE-11s, 260 vs 180.

My 305 invos didn't really hold 400 rwhp that well, especially after they passed about 1/2 wear.
They will be very inadequate tomorrow about this time....

I had 571rwhp using 305invos, they were fine if you're doing highway speeds.

From a stop, no they definitely would not hook.

I'm not a drag racer though, and I didn't punch it at red lights as soon as they turn green either

For 400rwhp, I can't imagine there not being traction at highway speeds during the summer. Winter driving, well I guess the Invos wouldn't be warm enough to have good grip, but that's about the same with any tire.

Am thinking the RE-11's. I really like the tread look and should do fine with the way I drive. Right now I am running the original Supercar Run-Flats and they are pretty much toast after 23K so anything is better than what I have now!

once they passed the half wear mark or so I could spin them at 40 mph in second gear. They actually did pretty good before that. I guess I was a little too harsh in my statement.

Pulled the trigger and purchased the RE-11's. Got them from Discount tire. They shipped them from Montreal. Put them on the car today and I must say I AM IMPRESSED! My C6 drives and handles like a different car and they are much quieter than the stock run-craps and corner quite well. Would definitely buy again.

I am also interested in going with the RE 11 in stock sizes. I like the look of the tire and your feedback on ride and handling. Whats your hunch on tread wear life?

I just put these on my car in stock sizes as well. I'm guessing tread wear life won't be that great since they are 180 treadwear. If you want great traction and handling its well worth the compromise on treadwear life though.

is there a downside to using runflats (other than the extra cost)
not the stock crap tires but like Michelin ZPs or similar

I only had them on for a short time...maybe 3 months. The traction was very good, but I went with the Spinmonster traction solution, which is widening a pair of stock front wheels to 11" and using a 305/35/18 Mickey Thompson ET Street tire for the rear.

I needed better traction as I upped the boost on my supercharger with a smaller pulley.
I'm glad you tried and like the RE-11s.

I've had RE-11's on the car for the past week and a half...
There is nothing better (Street tire wise) IMO.

The run-flats are a harder composition tire and will cause your car to ride rougher IMO. After installing the RE-11s, I will never go back. Also, tread wear was not my major priority, handling and tire noise was and this tire is both quiet and handles very well on the street. Since I only drive the car 3-4K per year, I figured the RE-11s were good for me. Also, if you have good towing insurance, who cares about run-flats!

If you are using the car as a fair weather, light use second car, I would look into Toyo R888. They are non run flat, R compound tires. 6000 miles is probably the life expectancy. Grip and traction is elevated to superhero status from the mere mortal run craps. I am making 715 at the tires and I use the R888s for street duty 245 18 fronts, 305 18 rears on widened wheels. Traction is vastly improved as I no longer spin in all gears. Launching will promote spin in first but I can get most of the power down in 2nd and all of it in 3rd. The car corners as if on rails. Good luck.
