Sounds about right. If you are concerned about tread life, you would need to look at the tread rating. (example: 300) The higher the number, the longer the tire will last but also will probably suffer performance qualities.
Do a search of tire rack and look at the possible tires offered for our cars and compare the performance verses mileage if that is important to you. You should be able to make a decision from that.

It's common. Z51 cars come standard with Goodyear F1 Supercar tires whereas the stock coupe comes with Goodyear GS-2 tires. The Supercar tires don't last long (220 rating), typically just over 10,000 miles depending upon how you drive. The GS-2's last longer (300 rating). Whatever you buy, they typically last less than tires on 'regular' cars. If you are looking for a decent set of street tires that have reasonable grip and longetivity, look at the Hankook Ventus V12.
