2008 C6 Ls3 car, is the only CAGS eliminator the one you buy and put in-line in the transmission wiring? Or does the fuse trick method work, and does someone sell the fuse? Is the CAGS wiring harness hard to install without a lift and does it throw any check engine lights? thanks all!
On my 06 I did the blown LED fuse method and it works well - no messing with a lift or wiring harness. The lighted fuse can be bought at just about any auto parts store and possibly some Walmart locations for a just few bucks.
CAGS eliminator is a 5 minute install, need to have the rear of the car up on stands, the connector access is high up on the driver's side of the trans, very easy to identify, just unclip it, put the plug that comes withthe CAGS kit into the trans connector spot, clip the CAGS into the wiring harness, ZIP tie it up out of harms way, you're done No it does not throw any check engine lights. The 1-4 shift light will still activate but it just won't prevent 1-2 shifts anymore

Try a search. I was a big fan of the blown smart fuse until it eventually gave me a check engine light after two years. Had to go the traditional route. The fuse route does NOT work on all cars, the traditional route will.
I've used the Smart Fuse on two C6 Corvettes. I did burn out the LED on one, but it is easily replaced.
Since you are blowing the fuse anyway, it doesn't matter what amp rating you use.

Did you test the fuse and make sure the LED illuminated on both sides?
Sounds to me like maybe the LED just burned out, 2 years is an awful long time for a CEL to trigger? Doesn't make much sense to me...
Yes, the blown fuse was still working correctly, exactly the same as when I installed it. I think the resistance of the led is just on the edge of what the car will accept without throwing a code. It's possibly variations in the leds that causes it to work on some cars and not others.

That's my preferred CAGS defeat method. I do my own oil changes so lifting the car and getting underneath is no problem for installing the CAGS defeat resistor at the solenoid.
