What parts would be necessary to convert a 2010 GS coupe that was not ordered with the NPP dual mode exhaust, to be converted to the dual mode exhaust and work just as if it had been ordered that way from the factory?
Also if the factory parts were used and installed as mentioned above would they fall under the Warranty for the period the warranty is in effect?
You can't add the factory functionality after the fact. You can add the NPP mufflers with manual control or.......maybe Sunset Orange Creations has an add on controller that mimics the factory control, you'd have to talk to him about that. Here's some reading for you:
Yes, SunsetOrangeCreations has many models including one that will open the exhaust valves based on rpm which is essentially what the factory system does. Click on the link below for more info.
Hi,
you can make the conversion to be quite near as if it had been ordered with NPP. The only difficult part is the electrical wiring and the control module but most likely you want to operate the flaps manually. I have done this conversion on my -08, I used NPP mufflers, vacuum solenoid, vacuum reservoir, vacuum pipes, all GM original parts. The fasteners in the tunnel for the pipe is already there, the pipe is installed togehter with the fuel lines. I used a control module from Sunsetorangecreations which operates the flaps from the dash DIC reset button. The total cost was almost the same as if I chosen B&B Fusions with retrofit vacuum and control kit (in swedish currency).
I have a question this subject as well. I know that the 2009 and newer have different piping than my 2008 (non Z06). If I were to find the mufflers with matching X-pipe from an 09 or 10 GS, would I still run into fitment issues that require modification, or will this match up to my manifolds wihtout issue?
I have a 2009 C6 and I am stationed here in Germany. There are not a lot of Corvettes here, but there is a huge following. Does anyone know if the NPP exhaust is a direct replacement on the 2009 C6? Or will it have the same sizing issues as the 2008. Thanks!
2008 NPP mufllers and overaxle pipes will bolt in to any 2005 to 2008 C6.
2009 NPP mufflers and overaxle pipes will bolt on to 2009 and up C6's.
2009 NPP and overaxle pipes for a 2005 to 2008 C6 will require a 2009 or later mid pipe also.
Z06 Bi mode exhaust will not bolt on to any year C6, the Bi mode is larger diameter at the mid pipe and must be modified to fit by cutting/welding.
All add on NPP's will require a vacuum source and an exhaust control switch.
I was told by a few very wise vette guys including Kooks headers person that my 2002 6Speed Manual will use 2008 NPP non zo6 only w/ o any mod. If I use 2009+ I need to change the mid pipe accordingly. Non zo6 mids and zo6 mids with zo6 mufflers. 2009+ have auto and manual figment issues requiring modifying .
