Just bought a 2005 Corvette with 25xxx miles. Less than 30 miles after I purchased it the check engine light came on. At Hwy speeds it has a hard shift and these codes
P0700 Transmission Control System (MIL Request) Malfunction
and
P0894 Transmission Component Slipping
Took it the dealer for diagnosis. I was told I need a new Transmission. Hesitant....I agreed and had them put in a new tranny. Just got it out of the shop YESTERDAY. By this morning the check engine light was on AGAIN and the harsh shift is back. Now I'm out $2700.00 and still have the same problem.....What would you do?

Take it back to the shop. Do you still experience the hard shifts? Does the issue you were having before seen to be better? If so find out what the new code is. It could be something very simple. Good Luck.
Its back in the shop....all the problems I took it in for the first time ~ are back.....NOTHING WAS FIXED. The harsh shift....P0700 and P0894 codes all back again. Back to square one.

Oh man I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you get the fixed since you paid a lot of money for it to run right. I hope the shop does the right thing and gets your car perfect. Hang in there.
I just had this same problem with my 2005. Sometimes it would not go into 1st gear and stay stuck in 2nd. Other times it had a delayed shift and shifted very hard. I kept getting transmission codes and the check engine light stayed on. I was afraid that it was my transmission.
The dealer found that the wiring harness going into the transmission had a short in it. He replaced that part of the harness and it was still acting up. He traced it back to the main harness near the battery. Evidently at one time battery acid got on it and ate it up. He had to replace about 10 of the pins (or whatever they are) in that harness. That completely cured the problem.
I'd vote that they owe a refund of the $2700. as this was an absolutely wrong diagnosis.
Code 0894 is a long section and one NEEDS the scan tool for the testing.
Items mentioned (other than the transmission bands - which a new trans would have cured)
1 - Should have checked trans fluid level first.
2 - Drop pan inspect for brass metal traces.
3 - Inspect TCC solenoid valve and 1-2 shift solenoid.
4 - Torque convertor - was this replaced?
5 - Oil Pump asm.
6 - Worn clutch plates - should come w/ new trans.
7 - and others
So, again good luck in your mission.
P.S. The books says that DTC P0894 is a Type B DTC...what does type B mean?
Thanks! They are now telling me it is a rear end problem. I will definately check the wiring!
Not sure what they mean by that. The differential has no way of generating this code. The code means your lock up torque converter is not locking up properly.
You should have at least received a 12K/12 Month warranty on the transmission. I would insist on them fixing the problem under their warranty.
Are you sure they replaced the transmission or did they just repair it?
