I was on line looking for info on my c-6 with an automatic trans and came across two things i know nothing about CAGS computer aided gear selection and transmission skip shift bypass. What are these two systems and what do they do? I know I know, dumb questions so don't respond with sarcasium I am not a mechanic.
CAGS is a system that blocks 2nd and 3rd gear if your driving easy. It makes you shift from 1-4 to get better mileage in the city and there by gets the vette excluded from a gas gullzer tax.
The bypass is a little plug the plugs into the factory side of the wiring going to the manual transmission, tricks the computer that everything is normal but you no longer need to shift from 1-4
Another option is to have the feature turned off by a tuner.
Many companies sell their version of the bypass for various prices.
