Default Lowering bolt install on rear?

Tried installing the lowering bolt kit on the rear yesterday and ran into major issues with the placement of the half shaft and the lower ball joint nut/bolt...

Is there anybody out there who has personally installed this kit on the rear of a C6?

And if so, how the hell do you get clearance to remove the factory bolts?

The guys I it bought from have no idea... go figure...

Thanks in advance - Dubya

Drop the lower control arm. I will buy your old bolts.

If you live near Milwaukee come to my house and will help you do it, but your profile doesn't say were you live.

Do NOT remove any ball joints to try to get the lower A-arm low enough to get the lowering bolt out. Instead, disconnect the sway bar end link, upper shock mount, and UPPER A-arm at the frame. This combination will allow the lower A-arm with the knuckle and half shaft still attatched to drop low enough to get the bolt out. I did it this way after a search here and because I saw no convenient way to get a torque wrench on the nuts for the ball joints.

Thanks marc8090, I'll give it a shot, I couldn't believe how nothing is mentioned in the installation instructions about the rear... I guess the vendors all think we're 1st class mechanics

I live in the northern Idaho panhandle, if the bolts come out clean I will try and send them to the guy that asked for them...

Thanks again, hope it works

Hey guys, having trouble with spring contacting the drive shaft, and still not providing enough clearance to get the bolt... I must be doing something wrong?

No, I did bolts and then went to coilovers. I would like to have the stock bolt for when I do.

Thanks!

This is exactly the info I was looking for. I tried in my garage and had hell getting to the lower ball joint bolt. Would you happen to know the torque settings for the sway, shock and a-arm bolt?

I'm moving in a couple days and my manuals are all packed up so I can't provide the torque specs at this time but hopefully somebody else can to help you out.
