1. I am having the exact same problem described in this thread (found using search, no responses):

Thought it might be the switch but its not like the old ones that slid open when the pedal was depressed but after reading the repair manual it says that it is a position sensor that must be set through the control tool.
Does this mean a trip to the dealer?
This causes cruise control to stop functioning, and happens to me whether moving the car or not.
2. I am getting "Service Active Handling" when under WOT, or spirited acceleration. I do not get this alert any other time. I also do not see any codes (according to HPTuners) when this comes up.
The car is 100% stock. The "orange clip fix thingy" is already on the car, and of course has not fixed chit. The car is an 08 A6 4LT, and has no remaining bumper to bumper warranty (ran out in Jan )
The clip for the steering sensor has nothing to do with this problem. I am not sure how many codes the HP Tuners can show but under the assumption it can only show P Codes I will include all of the things I found. There are at least 5 codes and possibly some other conditions that don't set any codes that could cause what you are experiencing. I could not find a correlation between any of them and the Service Active Handling message. None of these faults indicated that message would be set. So far this is what I have found. If you have the SM you can look them up and it will be easier to read than my pictures.

I edited these to fit them in jpg files so there could be some detail missing if I didn't edit correctly.
It definitely looks like you aren't in Kansas any more and debugging this could be quite an adventure. Hopefully, all you need to do is adjust the switch instead of the BCM.
Thanks Bill. Turned out that all my problems were caused by the brake position sensor. Had this adjusted and no more problems (had to be taken to someone who works at a local dealer, and was fixed on "on the side").
