A6 shifting weirdly?

A6 shifting weirdly?
I have a question regarding the shifts in my A6. The reason is that the last time I went to the track the car ran great. I don't even have 21K miles on my 06 yet. However, after the third run, the shift from 2nd to 3rd seemed unusually long and when that happened I let off. It seems that the trans was searching for the next gear. Now it was a cold day (30's to low 40's). The shift from 1st to 2nd snaps & as the day wore on I would actually break loose and drift a little sideways...losing time & when it gets squirrelly, I let off. However, the drive home, even under a 1/3-1/2 pedal...it shifted fine. This only happened once before that I can remember...but, my question is this unusual, but a solenoid problem due to the tranny fluid being too cold...or, worse?
