I installed a Maggie TVS 2300 on my C6 LS2 .. It runs great however, I seem to be burning way to much gas ...I had it tuned and it still seems to burn more gas a simular set-up's ... Can my spark plugs, which are stock, be a problems?
On a normal cruise run ... I used to get 22-24 pushing it a times ... Now ... not even playing I get 18-21 if I'm lucky .... I'm running wider tires all around .. 285 front and 345 rear. I know the drag of the tire have some effect. Even thou it was turned at England Green and corrected for fuel/air mixture, at times the cars behind me can smell the fumes. I cam also smell it when stopped. There are no leaks!!!

The tires can have quite a bit to do with the gas consumption. Even with the same size tires. For example, with my C5Z I had a set of stock wheels with stock S/C tires on them and also a set of stock wheels with Firestone Wide Ovals on them. When I had the WOs on the car it would get 2 miles to the gallon less fuel mileage every time. I saw this multiple times and the change was always the same. The Firestones were softer tires and had more rolling resistance.
and I used NGK TR6 with my Vortech however Edlebrock E-Force recommend that you stay with the stock spark plug (Not sure why)
From experience ditch the Irridiums, we have had all kinds of tuning issues on several cars with F/I. That thin electrode gets extremely hot and causes detonation, plus the heat range of the plug is incorrect for boost. The most common plug for boost on stock compression is NGK TR6 gapped at .035. They are copper, I change mine out ever 10-15K.
how much boost you run also should be a factor and how much hp your making.. I run a br7ef and I am n/a
He's right. Up to 10lbs id say tr6 are fine. But anymore than that I would run the colder 7 plug. Its also gapped tighter and eliminates spark blowout under high boost
Friend who installed a Maggie, mild cam, long tubes and a conservative tune(for 91 octane) gets 20-22 MPG when on the highway with his 2010 GS coupe/manual trans. That's cruising, not hot rodding. That's hand calculated as you can't go by the DIC as the injectors were changed for larger ones. Seems most GS owners on this forum report that they only get around 24-25 MPG with their stock Grand Sports, he lost around 4 MPG with his MODs.

I agree. On my C5 when I changed from the OEM Goodyears to Michelin A/S tires I lost about 2 MPG. I just installed Bridgestone's on my Z06 and I'll see shortly how they affect my gas mileage.
Tire alignment also affects gas mileage. Toe being off can cause a lot of tire scrubbing.

Smelling raw fuel is not normal. Need to check that out to make sure there are no leaks and if your LTFT% error is in the normal range.
