Default Trunk Button not working

All of a sudden this morning my trunk button above the license plate on my 2006 C6 Z06 is not working. I use it all the time instead of pulling my key out...very convenient. The trunk button on my remote works perfectly as does the button on the dash inside the car. I'm assuming there is a problem with that switch and I just need to disassemble and see what is going on. Anyone have this problem before?

I have read that if you take the rubber cover off of it and clean it out that works sometimes guess dirt gets in there sometimes

Do a search. Some one documented the step by step procedure for cleaning the dirt/corrosion that can affect the contacts on the switch.

Here you go.

I cleaned mine out just the other day using the Talon writeup. I put a little dielectrical grease in there to help. It works great now.

Same here. You'll be surprised that even with the rubber cover on it how much dirt gets in there and jams everything up.

Just to report I followed the instructions in the thread referenced and that did the trick. There was very little dirt in there but I cleaned it out with a q-tip, put it back together and it works like a champ. Thanks everyone!
