Default Issue in 2nd gear when cold

My 2007 C6 developed an issue when cold only. When you shift from 1st to 2nd gear about 2500 rpms it sounds like a baseball card on a bicycle! the noise will continue until you shift into 3rd gear once the oil temp reaches 200 the issues is gone.

Any thoughts??? or is it a trip to the stealer?

I would say it's DEFINITELY a trip to the stealer. Although they'll probably tell you that they can't identify the problem and send you on your way.

May be a bad exhaust manifold gasket ? When engine heats up the air flow ratio changes . Just enough to stop the noise ?

They will never find the problem unless they check the car under the same operating conditions in place when you experience the noise. You may want to leave the car overnight and then go back in the morning and go with them when they take the car for a test drive. That way you can make sure they hear the noise you hear. I do this a lot and it helps make communication with the mechanic a lot easier. You aren't going through the Service Writer's interpretation of your complaint and the mechanic will hear you say that's the noise. How loud is the noise? I have run into noise issues where the noise could be heard quite well from the driver's seat and not at all from the passenger seat.
