When coming to a slow stop and if bumps are in the road the ABS active light continually comes on. There seems to be no reason why this would happen. The light will also come on at times when driving and going over bumps in the road. Any ideas on this?

So, it comes on when you're not on the brakes? If so, sounds like your brake switch needs adjustment.
Do you have different size tires than OEM? That might also have something to do with it. If the computer senses that one wheel is slowing faster than normal, it will activate ABS. Wrong height (dia) tires will cause this.
Also, bumps cause the tire to loose traction when braking, ABS active is common when stopping hard and one wheel is in some sand or hits bumps. ABS can activate in a slow stop if one tire looses traction due to rolling on sand/dirt/ice as well.
If ABS Active is coming on without applying brakes, something is very wrong. Don't drive it, ABS might activate and cause loss of control.
See this thread ref Active handling issues (Active Handling uses the brakes to keep the car under control):
It doesn't come on when not on te brakes. It just started getting worse lately when slowing so maybe what you said about the brake switch could help and it got out of adjustment? How do you adjust the switch if that is the problem?
The ABS can activate when braking over a series of bumps. The bumps cause spikes in the wheel speed sensor signals due to the instantaneous wheel speed changing as the tire goes over the edges of the bump. The EBCM will react to those changes by activating ABS to keep the tire from locking up. All 3 of my vehicles to this when braking over bumps so it is a normal situation although in your situation the ABS might be over reacting and that would indicate a connection problem. No way to know whether your situation is normal or excessive from what you have written. I get it a lot more this time of the year because all of the roads around where I live have tons of frost heaves so the tires are bouncing all of the time.
