Default how to access gas door cable?

my gas door release cable(spring) is not working. looked in the trunk behind carpet and cant get to it....do i need to remove rear fender well to get to it?

It is a very simple device. Basically it is a spring and a metal bullet shaped piece in a tube with the cable attached to the point of the "bullet". When you push the button it turns on a magnet that pulls the "bullet" back, pulling the cable and releasing the door. Move your finger off the button and the spring pushes it back. Try a little squirt of WD-40 where the cable goes into the module above the fenderwell inside your car and another on the release button inside the gas door.
