Default 2005 C6 Radio/Nav problems

I own a 2005, C6 Build 8/04, Vin 101427. My problem is primarily with the radio portion of the Radio/Nav system, as far as I can tell. I can manually program FM stations, but if The scan function is enabled it will erase all program stations. Also, I can onlly get 1 AM Station (I live in the Los Angeles area so I know there are more than one). I've talked to the closest Chevrolette dealer and they recommend reprogramming with a Tech 2. I've heard some horror stories about this proceedure and am reluctant to let these guys play witth my car. Any advise would be appreciated.

I don't think there's any real reason to fear the TechII for something like that. But I certainly understand. No answer for you just a suggestion to maybe also ask in the Audio Forum and the C6 General Forum. Might get more responses. Good luck.

You do need to install updated firmware to the radio. I had the same problem and the update fixed it. I'd let the dealer do it as their tech 2 should put the proper software in there.

Here's a thread on the topic. You can do it yourself too, read on. I think there's a link to the software in there but I didn't go through all the pages.
